5 Hijab Related Myths that We need to Bust.

When you see a woman in hijab or niqab you already feel that she is a pretty practicing Muslim and she cannot do no wrong. Well, that is not true, as much as a practicing Muslim person is, there is always room for mistakes for everyone. Nevertheless, there are various misconceptions that are associated with hijabi and niqabi women. One of the many problems that they face is they do not really find good hijab online and have to struggle for it to buy them. The Black Camels is the place to get your naqab online as they are of high quality and can ensure a 100% safe shopping experience for you.

Hijabi women are often called a lot of names sometimes the funny ones or the other times extremely offensive ones. Unfortunately, some undergo a lot of mistreatment and racism when they wear a niqab or hijab, particularly in the western world. However, this is not always the case, women in the current era, are not that suppressed or face racism as acceptability is widely adopted in men and women both all over the world. Nevertheless, cutting to the chase, we all are pretty aware of the fact that there are various myths about hijabs and niqabis altogether. Those who know about it and face they know serious it often gets.

1) Headscarf and Hijabs are the same

One of the many mistakes that people often make is that they do not differentiate between a headscarf and a hijab. There are various women all over the world (not only the Muslims) who cover their heads. Christians and Jewish women also cover their heads however that is not the same as the hijab. Hijab is something different and it does not only cover the head if worn right but it is also supposed to cover your upper body as well.

If you go on the literal meaning, you would no that “hijab” means “curtain”. It has become more about describing a Muslim’s woman head covering. However, it is not only restricted to the head covering only, it includes the body covering as well not the hair only. It is more about the modesty of a woman and less about hair. It includes the range of the attire that the women wear and many other things. When you read hijab somewhere do not restrict yourself by thinking about headscarf only.

2) Does Against Western Culture

Western Culture is pretty bold and loud, we all know that and we know how pretty amazing that is for some people. However, the problem arises when Western people start messing up with the Muslim culture and judge them for what they wear. Most women especially face many issues when they wear hijab or abaya in Western countries, they are rejected from universities and jobs, and other opportunities. However, this is one big misconception that people widely believe all over the world. Western culture has also become pretty acceptable when it comes to accepting new cultures and religions in the country and that is why they are super diversified.

When we talk about Freedom of Expression and Freedom to Live, this is what it means, you should accept all kinds of people around and be comfortable around everyone no matter who is with you.

3) Hijab Oppresses Women

There is a large number of people who force their women to wear hijab and dress in a particular way but that happens in a few areas of the world only. The ones that are not very educated and not any women have much space there. One of the many women said that hijab oppresses women and that is one huge misconception about the random hijabi women. It often ignores how women all over the world believe that if women are wearing a hijab they are forced to do it and men of the society make them do it.

The so-called feminism of some people believes that women are not free to make their own decisions and the men of their family make the decision for them. It is one of the many reasons why they are dressed in a certain way. On the other hand, some women are forced to not take their head cover at all and that is one level of oppression as well.

4) Non-Practicing Women do not Wear Hijab

Hijab does mean you are one practicing Muslim and take your religion seriously but that does not mean the ones that are not wearing it are not practicing. People often judge the non-wearers for not being much religious about it and that is where they make some mistakes. The non-hijabi may not cover her head but she can be a better Muslim than you because she is not judging anyone for the choices that they make in their lives. Some women are very particular with hijab but struggle with praying five times daily but that does not mean she is in any way a bad Muslim. As long as a person is trying to be better there is nothing wrong with it and you cannot tag them as a bad person.

5) Hijabi Women are Backward

Okay, this is the myth that every person you would see around would believe in. Even in Muslim countries, these women are not given equal opportunities as they believe that they will not be comfortable with most of the things. However, now the world has changed a lot and is constantly evolving the hijabi women have transformed themselves a lot too. You would see them excelling in all forms of career and would be surprised to see how amazingly they are dealing with the typical society stereotypes.

For people to know, the Niqabi and hijabi women are not homebound anymore they are out in the world, making their place in the corporate society and providing everybody how they are not less than anyone. The main takeaway from this point is, you cannot and should judge a person’s ability the way they decide to dress.
